Well, maybe not necessarily a set back as much as a push back. I didn't post last week about having to push brewing the Black Cat Ale from last Sunday, the 24th, to this Sunday, the 31st, but I indeed had to push it back due to my own laziness. I couldn't brew the new batch without first bottling what was already in the keg, which was the Strawbeery Blonde, and I waited and waited to bottle that batch until the end of the day. So, unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to start up the new brew. That was fine. I figured it would be fine waiting a week and starting it tomorrow.
Well, things have changed, and I'm now glad I didn't start it last week. Talking with Erika this morning about starting it early this week, like today, due to me being on call Sunday in case Hurricane Gustav hits near us, she mentioned that there is a chance that the power will go out if we get hit by Gustav, and I will not be able to control the temperature of keg. Very Good Point!
So, I have decided to put off making my Black Cat Ale one more week as of now. We'll see how things go with this storm and I hope to be back next week with a Black Cat Ale update.
Oh, and on the other hand, I plan on bottling up my Raspberry Wheat today (one day early) 'cos I have no idea what the next few days will bring. And I'd much rather go ahead and do it a day early than not being able to do it for another week (with the possibility of a power outtage).
Now we just have to drink 6 beers today in order to have enough bottles for my generic Purple Haze. ;-)
